welcome, summer

Last week was the summer solstice, and today Chicago officially hit 100-degrees with a heat index in the 110 to 115.  It's miserable outside, and I am not a fan of the heat.  Anyone who knows me will not be surprised to hear that I would rather have a cold, snowy day over a hot, humid day any day of the year.  I am trying to keep cool by staying inside with places that have a/c, wearing light clothing, drinking lots of water and eating tons of ice cream.  Yes, summer has arrived.

It is also the time for summer bucket list.  Last year's list, I did not complete (and am ok with that fact).  I did not even come close to crossing off all the items, but this year, I hope to cross off all, if not most, of the items listed.
  • Bike to work (ideally once a week, but also only on the really nice days)
  • Start swimming (first, need to purchase a one-piece swimsuit)
  • Spend time relaxing on the beach
  • Visit the Art Institute of Chicago to wander the Roy Lichtenstien exhibit (ends 9/3)
  • Roller Derby - enough said
  • Paint kitchen curtains
  • Visit the Galos Caves
  • Antiquing in Indiana!
