book #6

Book: Dead Until Dark
Author: Charlaine Harris
Plot Summary: The main character, Sookie Stackhouse can read minds.  She is a small town cocktail waitress in Louisiana.  She considers this a disability and sets up walls to avoid listening to the mundane thoughts of small town folks.  Then, one day, she meets Bill.  Sookie is unable to read his mind and is fascinated by this handsome man.  Except, he's not a man.  He is a vampire, who is dead until dark.  He sleeps in a coffin during the day and has a bad reputation.  Then, waitresses start dropping dead, Bill is a suspect and Sookie fears she is next....

Overview: Another vampire story, and, yes, I am addicted to them.  This story is a little over the top, but a quick read.  In a way, it reminds me of the Janet Evanovich series about Stephanie Plum, a laid off lingerie buyer, turned bounty hunter.  I decided that I will continue with the next book...Living dead in Dallas to see what other trouble become Sookie and, if she falls for a werewolf* next or decides to stay with the vampire.

*I am not sure if there is actually a werewolf in the next book, but wouldn't be surprised.
